The three-time US Open champion shot a one under par 69 and sits three shots behind the leader, fellow American Michael Thompson, who's on four under.

Wellington's Michael Campbell is unlikely to make the cut for just the second time since winning the US Open in 2005 - Campbell shot a nine over 79, the same as 14-year-old qualifier Andy Zhang.
They weren't alone in high scores however - the reigning champion Rory McIlroy is seven over, British world number one Luke Donald's also nine over, the four-time major winner Phil Mickelson is at six over and the Masters champion Bubba Watson is eight over.
