The American-born player Casey Lockwood is the only debutant named in the national women's basketball team, which is heading offshore for their last-chance bid to qualify for the London Olympic Games.

The 26-year-old takes out the only naturalised spot available in the Tall Ferns after a summer with the Townsville Flames in the Australian WNBL.

The Tall Ferns have flown out for China before they head to Turkey for the FIBA Olympic qualifying tournament later this month, as well as two preliminary tournaments at Wuxi and Changzhou against hosts China, Australia and Angola.

All three nations have already qualified for the Olympics as their respective zone champions, although it's believed the Australians will field a development side at this preliminary event.

The veteran Charmian Mellars also returns - the former Charmian Purcell, who hasn't represented her country since the 2008 Beijing Olympics.
