NRL converts clash for Wallaby wing spot

6:52 am on 31 May 2012

The Auckland-born Wallabies candidate Cooper Vuna and another NRL convert, Joe Tomane, will face off in Super Rugby action on Friday night in what shapes as a duel for a spot on the wing for Tuesday's home Test against Scotland.

The Melbourne Rebel Vuna and Brumbies revelation Tomane practised together with the Wallabies train-on squad on Wednesday, but in a mouth-watering match-up, they'll go head-to-head at AAMI Park on Friday with a gold jersey potentially on the line.

Meanwhile James O'Connor has struck more injury trouble after straining a hamstring.

The versatile back will have a scan on Thursday but Wallabies officials are confident the mishap won't impact upon his scheduled return in July.

O'Connor has only recently been back in training after being ruled out of the June tests when he lacerated his liver while playing for the Rebels.
