The international future of the troubled Black Cap Jesse Ryder is in limbo following an important player review meeting.

Ryder will miss out on a contract with New Zealand Cricket for the upcoming season after the 27-year-old met with New Zealand Cricket following his return from the Indian Premier League.

In a statement from New Zealand Cricket, CEO David White says a decision was made by Ryder, his management, the Players Association and the national body not to sign a new contract, while he works towards a number of health- and fitness-related goals.

White says all the evidence shows Ryder is on the right track, both on and off the field, but there are still steps to be made and it is his health and well-being that has to be the primary focus.

White says Ryder wants to concentrate on his personal goals without the media pressures, commercial pressures and other demands associated with being a contracted player, and he will continue to receive support from within cricket and from his own support network.
