The Crusaders number eight Kieran Read is back after injury and will start against the Highlanders in their Super Rugby clash in Christchurch on Friday night.
Read has recovered from the pelvis injury he suffered against the Melbourne Rebels just over a fortnight ago.
Richie McCaw moves to seven with Matt Todd dropping to the bench.
In the other change prop Ben Franks comes in for his brother Owen.
