Evans stays second in GP3 Series

A fourth place finish in the second Monaco GP3 race has helped New Zealand driver Mitch Evans retain second place overall in the standings.

Evans started fourth in the reverse top eight race having finished fifth in the feature race.

The reverse race was red flagged after 13 of the scheduled 18 laps because of damage to the debris fencing, caused by a spectacular crash involving Connor Daly and Dmitry Suranovich.

Suranvich, who had continued without a rear wing after an earlier clash between the two, was excluded from the results for his role in the incident.

Reverse grid pole sitter Marlon Stockinger celebrated the first win of his GP3 career after a lights to flag victory.

Felix Da Costa took second place.

The result makes it four different winners from four races in 2012.

Vaino heads the standings after the second round with the Finn is on 54 points with Evans second on 43 and Stockinger third on 39.

The third round takes place in Valencia late next month with a GP3 test scheduled in Spain a week earlier.
