NZ Cricket in no rush to appoint new coach

12:23 pm on 26 May 2012

The New Zealand Cricket chief executive David White's in no hurry to recruit a new Black Caps head coach to replace John Wright, and the new man could also be a foreigner.

The national board met in Auckland on Friday and decided the job will be advertised in the next few weeks, so the Black Caps should have a new coach when they return home from the July tour of the West Indies.

White says the possibility of having different coaches for the different forms of the game, test cricket, one-dayers and Twenty20 is still on the table, but the head coach will decide whether that's the direction he wants to move in.

Three coaches have come and gone in four years so the new contract goes through to the 2015 World Cup, but the next coach will once again report to Director of Cricket John Buchanan.
