Herbert pleased with All Whites draw despite missed chances

The All Whites coach Ricki Herbert says he's pleased with his youthful side's two all draw with El Salavador in Houston but concedes they wasted several opportunities which could have won them the game.

El Salvador who're ranked 81 places above New Zealand took the lead twice only for the All Whites to level again.

Ian Hogg scored on debut while Costa Barborouses scored the other.

Herbert says he was particularly pleased with the efforts of the less inexperienced players in a side missing the likes of Ryan Nelsen, Rory Fallon and Chris Killen.

The All Whites' next match is against Honduras in Dallas on Sunday before heading to the Solomon Islands for the Oceania Nations Cup, with games there doubling as World Cup qualifiers.
