The Silver Ferns coach Wai Taumaunu says while reducing the number of New Zealand netball teams in the trans-Tasman competition may increase the competition for places in franchises, she doesn't believe it would help the Silver Ferns.

There have been calls in Australia for the number of New Zealand teams be reduced from five to four with only one New Zealand team in the top four at present and the bottom two spots filled by the Central Pulse and the Canterbury Tactix.
