The Chicago Bulls guard Derrick Rose could be out basketball's NBA for a year, while he recovers from knee ligament surgery.
Rose, who last year won the NBA's Most Valuable Player award, suffered the injury in Chicago's opening playoff game last month.
The Bulls finished the regular season as the number one ranked team in the Eastern Conference but, without Rose, lost to the Philadelphia 76ers in the opening round.
