Three New Zealanders have finished inside the top ten at the men's ITU World Triathlon Series in San Diego, behind winner Jonathan Brownlee of Great Britain.

Ryan Sissons backed up from his runner up finish at the Huatulco World Cup last week with a superb 6th place closely followed by Bevan Docherty (8th) and Kris Gemmell (10th),

New Zealand's London reserve, Clark Ellice, finished just 28 seconds behind Gemmell in 21st place, while Tony Dodds was 49th.

The results take New Zealand to 3rd on the Olympic Nations rankings behind Germany and Great Britain with just the Madrid round of the world series to come before the top 8 nations are granted 3 starting positions at the London Olympics.

The top 8 is rounded out by France, Spain, Russia, Australia, Canada and Portugal.
