The Sharks have beaten the Highlanders 28-16 in their round 11 super rugby match in Durban.
The Highlanders have suffered their third defeat of the season after trailing 15-9 at half time.
The match also has taken its toll with four players sent to hospital for scans with suspected serious injuries.
Sharks first five Patrick Lambie scored all of his team's points, a try and kicked a conversion and seven penalties.
The visitors could consider themselves a touch unlucky to be trailing at the break as they had dominated possession and territory to such an extent that the hosts had not made a single incursion into the Highlanders' 22-metre area.
