The Canadian tennis player Milos Raonic has demonstrated his claycourt credentials with a 6-4 7-6 win over Andy Murray in the Barcelona Open quarter-finals.
Raonic slammed down 14 aces on his way to victory over the Scottish world number four to set up a clash with Spanish third seed David Ferrer, who saved three match points in a 6-7 7-6 6-3 success against Spanish compatriot Feliciano Lopez.
Top seed Rafael Nadal crushed Serbia's Janko Tipsarevic 6-2 6-2 to claim his semi-final place against another Spaniard, Fernando Verdasco, as the world number two continues his bid for a seventh Conde de Godo trophy in eight years.
