Carroll says his drinking days are over

The Liverpool striker Andy Carroll says his hell-raising days are behind him as he focuses on living up to his STG35 million ($NZ 68 million) price tag at Anfield.

Carroll delighted Liverpool fans on Sunday after scoring a late goal to send the Reds into the FA Cup final with victory over Everton.

It followed another late winner in Liverpool's league win over Blackburn last week and offered further evidence that Carroll is settling in Merseyside after a difficult first full season.

The 23-year-old attracted criticism from then England manager Fabio Capello last year who said the striker needed to drink less.

However Carroll says he's changed his ways.

He says all he does now is stay at home with his girlfriend, chilling out and watching movies.

Carroll says he will continue to improve next season provided he starts regularly.
