Western Sydney home to newest A-League side

The latest expansion club in Australian football's A-League has been unveiled and Western Sydney will be the home of the as-yet un-named team, which will play in the next season, starting later this year.

The Australian Football Federation CEO Ben Buckley says the Western Sydney community will have a say in the culture, colours, name and logo of the new entity from day one of its existence, and the Federation will explore a model that would allow for community ownership.

A pledge of $5 million of investment in grassroots football for Sydney's west has also been made.

With uncertainty surrounding Gold Coast United's participation next season, after owner Clive Palmer was stripped of his licence, the FFA appears determined to have at least 10 teams for the 2012-13 season.
