The national rugby sevens coach Gordon Tietjens will take charge of the side through to the Rio de Janeiro Olympics in 2016, after re-signing with the New Zealand Rugby Union for four more years.
The 57-year-old says it's a huge thrill to know he's taking the team to the first-ever Olympic sevens contest.
And Tietjens says while taking home four Commonwealth Games gold medals has given him some of the most memorable moments of his coaching career, taking part in the Games will be the pinnacle.
Rugby 15s was an Olympic sport from 1900 to 1924.
Tietjens has been the national sevens coach since 1994 and will have been in charge of the side for 22 years by the time the 2016 Games come around.
He's led the side to nine World Series titles and four Commonwealth Games gold medals.
Tietjens says while he's had approaches from other countries to coach their national teams he could never coach another side against New Zealand.
