6:13 am on 30 March 2012

The Sri Lankan cricket team's left-arm spin bowler Rangana Herath took his match tally to 12 wickets with another six in England's second innings to bowl his side to a 75-run victory in the first test in Galle.

Despite a century from Jonathan Trott, the world's top ranked test side were bowled out for 264 chasing 340, and they've now lost their last four tests.

Man of the match Herath took six wickets for 97.

England had a great chance of pulling off an unlikely win until they lost three wickets for seven runs before the tea break.

The second and final test in Colombo starts on Tuesday.
