Brisbane's St Joseph's Nudgee College appear to be the crew to beat in Saturday's Maadi Cup final at the Secondary School's rowing regatta on Lake Ruataniwha.
The boys eight recorded the fastest time to reach the final along with holders Auckland Grammar and Westlake College.
In yesterday's repechages they were joined in the 9 boat final by former multiple champions Hamilton Boys, Marlborough Boys, and from Christchurch, St
Bedes, Christs College and Christchurch Boys.
The Australian boys can take the gold medal, but rules dictate the domestic schools title and cup must remain on New Zealand shores.
