Breakers beat Blaze at home

The New Zealand Breakers continue to dominate the Australian National Basketball League with a 109-93 home win over the Gold Coast Blaze.

Having already wrapped up the minor premiership, the defending champions had little to gain from their final regular-season home game, played in front of another sell-out crowd at the North Shore Events Centre.

But intent on carrying their winning ways into the business end of the season, the Breakers turned on three quarters of quality basketball, taking control early and never taking the foot off the accelerator.

Forward Tom Abercrombie led all scorers with 24 points, while American Gary Wilkinson had 20 and Daryl Corletto slotted 17.

The Breakers finish the regular season away to Townsville and Gold Coast.
