Two current All Whites named in NZ under-23 side for Olympic qualifier

Two current All Whites have been named in the New Zealand under-23 football side to compete in the Oceania Olympic qualifying tournament, beginning in Taupo on Friday.

Goalkeeper Jake Gleeson and midfielder Marco Rojas, have been released by Portland Timbers and Melbourne Victory respectively for tournament.

Rojas will miss the opening match against Papua New Guinea as he's playing for the Victory in their A League match against the Phoenix in Wellington, on Friday night.

If the side qualifies for the Olympics, English based All Whites Chris Wood, Tommy Smith and Kosta Barbarouses are likely to be added to the squad.

New Zealand will also play Tonga in group play with the top two sides going on to the semi finals to play against the top two teams from Group A, which includes features Solomon Islands, Vanuatu, Fiji and American Samoa.

The winner of the final on Sunday week will earn Oceania's sole berth in London.
