Kaino resigned to year without international play

The Auckland loose forward Jerome Kaino has more or less given up on international rugby this year after being told he needs a shoulder operation that'll mean about six months out of the game.

Kaino suffered the injury during the Blues second round Super 15 match against the Chiefs, and it's turned out to be more serious than he thought, with a piece of bone separated from the shoulder joint.

He hopes to play some provincial games for Auckland late in the season, but he's virtually written off any international play this year.
