World golf's new number one Rory McIlroy says he's a bit surprised he's got to the top so soon, but he's intent on staying there for a while.
The 22 year old Northern Irishman took over from England's Luke Donald at the top of the world rankings with victory at the Honda Classic yesterday in Florida, capping a remarkable sequence of results.
In his last 10 events 22 year old McIlroy has won twice, finished second four times, third twice, and only once finished outside the top five when he was 11th at the Dubai World championship, thanks to a bout of dengue fever.
