The Tasman District Mayor hopes a ministerial visit will emphasise the importance of Government support for flood-affected parts of Golden Bay.
Torrential rain in late December pushed the Aorere River to its highest level in 150 years, forced the river to change course, flooded homes, damaged farmland and ripped out fences.
Tasman mayor Richard Kempthorne says Agriculture Minister David Carter minister will assess the damage during his visit to the Aorere Valley on Monday and see what work has been done to reinstate the river.
Mr Kempthorne says its important Mr Carter gets an idea of the multi-million dollar cost of the clean-up work that lies ahead.
