The kiwifruit industry has given itself a mark out of ten of 7.4 for its global performance.

About 320 growers and industry stakeholders rated the kiwifruit industry's international strategy at its annual conference in Rotorua.

Business commentator Rod Oram also asked them to compare its performance with the other primary production sectors including meat, dairy, viticulture, seafood and forestry.

Rod Oram says it is important that those in the kiwifruit industry know how well its global strategy is performing compared with other sectors.

He says the participants rated the meat industry 3.4 and the dairy industry 7.

Mr Oram says the kiwifruit industry is out-performing all other primary production sectors in New Zealand with its global ambition and success.
