Meat and Wool New Zealand has appointed Dr Scott Champion as its new chief executive.
Dr Champion, who is currently Meat and Wool's general manager of market access and services, will replace Mark Jeffries, who headed the organisation for five years.
He has worked in research development for the New Zealand Merino Company, and has also lectured in animal production at the University of Tasmania.
Meat and Wool chairman Mike Petersen, says Dr Champion has led the organisation's beef and sheepmeat marketing programmes, as well as market access work for meat and wool products through the China Free Trade Agreement, and the ASEAN-Australia New Zealand FTA.
He will take over the new position at the end of September.
