Young Farmer regional finalists decided

The last of the regional finalists in the national Young Farmer contest has been decided.

Grant McNaughton has won the Tasman final and will join six other regional finalists at the grand final in Gore in July.

A coastal farming couple won the supreme title of the Wellington/Wairarapa Ballance farm environment awards.

George and Sarah Tatham farm sheep, beef and dairy cattle on a 2000 hectare property, which features 5km of coastline, east of Masterton.

They have also planted steeper land in forestry and natives, and grow seed and forage crops.

Rural Women New Zealand has also announced the winners of its enterprising rural women awards.

The winner of the North Island prize was Tineke Verkade of Homeopathic Farm Support Limited, while the South Island prize went to Tracey Robinson of the wool clothing company, Cosy Toes Limited.
