The Easter Bunny Hunt in Central Otago bagged 7478 rabbits at the weekend.
While more than 300 hunters took part it was the lowest number of rabbits killed in more than a decade according to the organisers.
However, there were fewer farm blocks available for the hunt this year due to the Warbirds Over Wanaka airshow and the organisers had also said the rabbit disease RCD had also taken its toll on the local population.
Often, more than 20,000 rabbits are shot.
