Raw milk farmer awaiting all-clear

1:47 pm on 31 March 2014

A farmer whose raw milk has been identified as the source of an outbreak of campylobacter says he is just waiting for the official all-clear before restarting operations.

The Timaru franchise of Village Milk was shut down after tests found the disease-carrying bacteria was present in a batch of raw milk sold on 7 and 8 March.

Stu and Andrea Weir, who began selling raw milk from their farm only last month, say that despite the outbreak their regular customers have given them great support.

Mr Weir says they voluntarily shut down their business, and as soon as they get the all-clear they'll be selling raw milk again.
