Second attack on Hastings orchard

9:30 am on 26 February 2014

A second attack on a Hastings apple orchard has left fruit and vege grower Kulwant Singh sick and disgusted.

Mr Singh lost 5500 apple trees in an attack by vandals last November and last week lost nearly 1500 more.

He says he believes they were targetted attacks by people who knew what they were doing, because the trees were cut or broken below the bud assembly to ensure they would not easily grow again.

"Still we're cleaning up," Mr Singh says. "It's too much for me, and I can't handle that. It's in police hands so hopefully we can [find] a solution and those people who are responsible for the damage are punished."
