More farmers are getting into recycling instead of burning or burying their plastic waste.
Figures from rural recycling agencies show a big increase in the amount of plastic containers, silage wrap and other waste products collected.
One recycling company, Plasback, collected almost 870 tonnes of agricultural plastic in the past year, mostly silage wrap.
That's 28% more than the previous year and manager Chris Hartshorne says there are a number of reasons for that, including peer pressure.
Another rural recycler, Agrecovery, has also had its biggest year yet, collecting more than 500 tonnes of empty chemical containers and silage plastics as well as old chemicals for recycling or safe disposal. It amounts to almost a quarter more than the previous year's collection.
Agrecovery also had a 30% rise in the number of farmers and growers using its service.
