Apple picking is coming to an end in the Motueka/Nelson region and packing houses are going full bore.
Country Life reports the Braeburn variety is slow to colour this year and any not up to spec have gone to the juice processors, who have experienced lower volumes than last year due to better overall fruit quality.
The last of the harvest in Hawkes Bay is being wrapped up with final Pacific Rose, Pink Ladies and some Granny Smiths coming off.
Processing fruit is still on the trees. Country Life says apple growers are in a very positive frame of mind.
