Scholarship takes young farmer to Canada

12:26 pm on 1 September 2012

An agricultural scholarship awarded to a young Hunterville farmer will take him to Canada next month.

Beef + Lamb New Zealand has awarded the scholarship to Peter Fitz-Herbert, a stock manager on the family's 600ha sheep and beef cattle property. He is also chairman of Marton Young Farmers Club.

The award gives him the opportunity to attend the Five Nations Beef Alliance and the Young Ranchers Programme in British Columbia.

The Beef Alliance is made up of producers organisations in Australia, Canada, Mexico, New Zealand and the United States. It meets each year to discuss global issues and opportunities for beef cattle farmers.
