Tanker upgrade by Fonterra

Fonterra is spending $45 million to upgrade its tanker fleet.

The company is replacing 67 tankers and building an additional 23 tankers at the Morrinsville fleet service centre to collect milk from farms throughout New Zealand this season.

Each tanker will be fitted with an in-cab vehicle management system, which tracks the tanker's daily movements to increase fuel efficiency and reduce the need for repairs.

New Zealand operations director Brent Taylor says Fonterra will have more than 500 tankers on the road when the work is complete.
