Five New Zealand crews will be on the water on Wednesday at the World Rowing Championships on Lake Karapiro.

The defending men's world lightweight double sculls champions, Storm Uru and Peter Taylor, face their strongest rivals, British pair Zac Purchase and Mark Hunter, in their semi-final.

Lucy Strack and Julia Edward feature in the women's lightweight double sculls semi-final, while the men's four (John Storey, Matthew Trott, Robert Manson and Nathan Twaddle), the women's four (Sarah Gray, Fiona Bourke, Genevieve Behrent and Linda Matthews) and the women's double sculls (Fiona Patterson and Emma-Jane Feathery) teams face repechages.

All have to finish in the top two to progess.
