Police hope crime hotline may help find baby's killer

Police investigating the suspicious death of a six-month-old Waikato girl are hoping the Crimestoppers hotline may help solve the case.

Serenity Scott-Dinnington, of Ngaruawahia, died in late April from brain injuries which police described as traumatic. Detectives are waiting for results of forensic tests.

Police on Thursday distributed Crimestoppers pamphlets and posters to every house and business in Ngaruawahia.

Inquiry head Detective Senior Sergeant Mark Greene is hoping the phone line's anonymous nature will encourage people to offer up information.

Mr Greene says the Ngaruawahia community owes it to Serenity to divulge whatever information they know about how she suffered the fatal injuries.

The Crimestoppers number is 0800 555 111.
