Police have found the body of a woman in the Buller River near Murchison, but are yet to confirm if it's that of a Wakefield woman missing since last week.
Rachel Stokes was reported missing after her car was found crashed on State Highway 6 near Kawatiri Junction, in the southern Tasman District, on Friday morning.
Police held serious concerns for her welfare.
A ground and air search began over the weekend for the 46-year-old, with white water teams also searching the Buller River.
Police said the woman's body found late this morning is yet to be formally identified and they have no further comment at this stage.
