Firefighters have freed two people trapped in the wreckage of a two-car collision in south Auckland.
The collision happened about 5.30am on State Highway 22 at Paerata Road, north of Pukekohe.
The Fire Service says a person in each car had been trapped. One is understood to be in a critical condition and the other moderate.
Police and St John ambulance crews were also at the scene.
