A man charged with the murder of a man in his late 60s who died overnight in Wellington has appeared in court.

The victim was taken to Wellington Hospital in a critical condition yesterday morning, and died overnight.
Both men lived at the Dwell Housing Trust house in the suburb of Kilbirnie, which houses people suffering from mental health issues.
In the Wellington District Court today, the judge asked for a medical assessment and remanded the accused, who was arrested yesterday, to a secure facility.
He is due to reappear in court in April.
