Members of the police dive squad have found a body which they believe is a man who went missing from his home in Manurewa.
Officers searched a pond after the 70-year-old's belongings were spotted nearby.
The body was yet to be formally identified and the coroner had been told.
The police in Counties Manukau earlier said they were concerned for the missing pensioner, who was known to have mental health issues.
