The man who slipped on ice and died near a ski field near Wanaka yesterday has been named as 22-year old Jeffery Charles Atkinson, who was from Colorado.

Police and Alpine Cliff Rescue were called to the accident near the Treble Cone ski field just after 1pm yesterday but Mr Atkinson was not found until an hour later.
Treble Cone said Mr Atkinson had been been skiing outside of its facilities when he fell.
The ski field closed a week-and-a-half ago.
The death has been referred to the coroner.
