Overnight quake rattles deep south

A 4.1 magnitude earthquake shook the deep south early this morning.

GeoNet recorded the quake 70 kilometres west of the Southland town of Tuatapere shortly before 3am.

It says the moderate quake was at a depth of 14 kilometres.
