An early morning police chase in Christchurch has ended with a speeding car crashing into a parked police car.
The incident happened about 5am today when police attempted to stop a car in the suburb of Shirley and then began a pursuit.
Police say the driver headed towards a police officer who was putting down road spikes, before colliding with a parked police car.
They say the driver then fled the vehicle and was tracked down by a police dog.
A male driver is now facing a number of driving-related charges as well the unlawful taking of a motor vehicle.
