Mili Way in Ranui appeared calm this morning but blood on the street remained as evidence of the violent scuffle.

Neighbours said a loud domestic dispute spilled out onto the street just after 8.30pm yesterday.

Police said the dispute escalated rapidly with a variety of weapons being used, including a machete and a baseball bat.

They said one man had his hand nearly cut off with a machete, and officers had to taser a man who had an airgun.

One resident said she slept with her young children in the living room out of fear. She said police regularly visited the property, and there were ongoing gang disputes in the area.

A 23-year-old man was due to appear in Waitakere District Court today charged with wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm and possession of an airgun.
