About 400 people had to be evacuated from the terminal at Christchurch Airport this afternoon.
The Fire Service said the alarms went off due to a small fire in a deep fat fryer in one of the food outlets at the domestic terminal about 2.20pm.
Some passengers were kept on planes during the fire.
