Canterbury has been rattled by a magnitude 4 earthquake.

The quake was centred 20 kilometres north west of Oxford and was at a depth of 11 kilometres. It struck at 6.54am.
People from Oxford to Christchurch reported to GeoNet that they had felt the quake.
