The Government will transfer the ownership and management of 2,800 properties in the area to the Tamaki Redevelopment Company, in a joint venture with the Auckland Council.

Betty Kanuta, 57, said she was pushed out of Glen Innes to make way for a development project, and was now living in Tamaki.

Ms Kanuta said she thought the same thing was going to happen there, and tenants would not have a say in the matter.

She said the letter she received yesterday from Housing New Zealand with the news was the first she had heard about it.
