Winds cut Tomahawk power

12:54 pm on 30 April 2015

High winds in Dunedin have cut the power to a southern city suburb twice in the past 24 hours.

A spokesperson for lines maintenance company Delta said about 500 households and businesses in suburban Tomahawk first lost electricity for about an hour from 5pm yesterday. Power was again lost about 5.30am and was not back on until about 10am.

The cuts were not related.

The spokesperson said Delta had braved cold, strong winds and challenging conditions to restore power.
