Police in New Plymouth have identified two women who died when their cars collided - both were named Smith although they were not related.
Rachel Constance Smith, 86, of Waitara and Pamela Mary Smith, 69, also of Waitara were alone in the cars.
The crash happened at 1.45pm yesterday afternoon on State Highway Three just north of New Plymouth.
