An Armed Offenders Squad callout in the Auckland suburb of Blockhouse Bay is over.
Police said they were alerted about 10am when a woman asked for help, saying the man, who she knows, had threatened her. The woman was safe with officers near the Blockhouse Bay reserve.
Parts of Terry Street were cordoned off while the armed police scoured the area, and residents were warned to stay inside.
Police said there had been no arrests and enquiries were continuing but it is now safe for residents in the area.

Carl Jackson, who owns a business on the street, said there had been a lot of police activity.
"We had a patrol car pull up out front and he got all set up with his road spikes and stuff, got a gun sitting on his hip. They've just shut down any traffic, they've been sending it back."
Mr Jackson said a police helicopter had hovered over the reserve, which borders Terry Street.
