Police say they are treating the death of a man at an Auckland school as 'unexplained'.
A body was found at the St Mary's Catholic School and Pre-school in Avondale at about 11-o-clock this morning.
Police are describing the man as Maori and in his late forties.
The scene examination of an area outside one of the school buildings is now finished and the man's body is being taken to Auckland mortuary.
Detective Senior Sergeant Paul Newman said the man was dead when an ambulance arrived this morning and he had some injuries but he would not say what they were.
He said police had an initial identification of the man although that had not yet been confirmed.
The post mortem will take place tomorrow.
